Others are more reassuring and optimistic, describing AI as just another technological leap, like the microprocessor or the Internet.

Meanwhile both small- and large-scale investors see AI as a get rich quick opportunity of a lifetime. At the same time countries around the world are racing to control the rapid development through regulation.

To help us identify underlying trends and prepare for possible future scenarios we have created a 30-year timeline of key technical and social developments. This timeline is derived from a variety of resources, including evidence and opinion-based publications, and discussions.

Nevertheless, it is all speculative. Our idea of this hypothetical future scenario still needs a lot of improvement.
