𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 

 

For decades, my work focused on Business Engineering. Since AI will evolve into Superintelligence within the next 20 years, the mission of my work also has to evolve. We are no longer just optimizing businesses; we are engineering the future of human life. 

 

𝐌𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠. 

 

From Life Engineering’s viewpoint ethical values must align AI with human quality of life, but they are too vague and unstable to guarantee an AI with a vested interest in human well-being. The exploding body of data from sensors and usage of all kinds of digital services as well as the power of AI algorithms and the massive compute give us the chance to establilsh the values of AI, the objective function, based on an empirical behavior model. 

 

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮 (𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐌 20–40):

Regulation will not save us; the strongest AI (or the owners thereof) will set the rules. The next generation of builders has to seize this moment. Whether you are building health coaches or finance agents, you are defining the objective functions that will govern our species and determine our future with AI.
